Senior Mechanical Designer

Job Description

Our client located in Grimsby, ON is hiring for Senior Mechanical Designer to join their growing team. As a key member of the Engineering team, you will support the achievement of the following team goals:

  • Generate robust engineered designs, with a keen emphasize on manufacturability, budget, and schedule
  • Strive to minimize and eliminate non-conformances [NCR] through continuous improvement
  • Contribute to project success by supporting the manufacturing and project management teams

 

Location: Grimsby/Hamilton Ontario

Starting ASAP

Salary: $95k- $115k per year

This is a Permanent role

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design responsibilities include:
  • Static structure design
  • Materials selection
  • Machine dynamics
  • Fabrication design
  • Power transmission component selection
  • Design validation
  • Preparation of drawing packages
  • BOM creation
  • Acceptance test procedure creation
  • Project documentation
  • Design within defined project technical requirements, budgets and timelines.
  • Work utilizing and applicable industry standards.
  • Support the engineering team to develop quality technical solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers and engineers on best practices and design standards.
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to ensure design intent is met through the development process.
  • Peer technical review of engineering drawings, calculations, and other related documentation.
  • Project technical liaison between engineering and manufacturing at manufacturing facilities (Grimsby and Hamilton).

Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience in designing custom industrial equipment.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng), or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) considered an asset but not required.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified environment an asset.
  • Proficient with SolidWorks (with formal training preferred); experience with Simulation desirable.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with MSOffice suite.
  • Demonstrated design experience with hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, manufacturability, fabrication processes and GD&T.
  • Proficient with performing calculations pertaining to machine design (speed, force, torque, power, pressure, etc.)
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative and analytical thinker, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, able to work individually and as part of a team.
