SMT Technician
Job Description
Our client located in Barrie; Ontario is seeking a SMT Technician. The candidate will support a newly formed team through positive motivation, teaching and passion to achieve the highest level of safety, quality, and delivery. This position will require a hands-on approach to equipment operation, quality, and materials control.
This will be a day shift position (100% onsite)
Pay rate will be $27-$32/hr. (DOE)
This is a permanent position after 3 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for set-up, operation, and adjustment of SMT Printers, Pick and Place Machines, Ovens, and SPI/AOI equipment.
- Monitor quality, troubleshoot and investigate failure points. Resolve issues to achieve a high pass rate and ensure effective repair and rework methods to optimize cost.
- Perform a variety of tasks including CI and cycle time improvements.
- Manage materials through inventory control, proper storage requirements, and work order issuance and return flow.
- Support the work of others to efficiently achieve the production plan.
- General housekeeping of operations area.
- Collaborate with various support groups such as Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance.
Requirements
- Experience running an SMT line with a strong knowledge and understanding of the SMT processes and post inspection requirements.
- High level of expertise with SMT process equipment used in PCBA manufacturing.
- Solid knowledge of PCBA drawing and schematics.
- Hands-on skills with machine/automation programming, diagnostics software, hardware, tools, instruments, general electromechanical systems, and measurement techniques.
- Experience developing and taking new automated manufacturing processes and equipment from the prototype stage through high volume production.
- Experience within a lean manufacturing environment with demonstrated results leading to continuous cost, quality, and productivity improvement.
- Knowledge of IPC standards, such as IPC-A-610, is a plus.
- The ability to identify and solve technical and quality problems related to SMT processes is crucial.
- Excellent communication skills are needed to explain technical issues to others.
- Proficiency with relevant software and computer systems is important.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PPT, word) and be familiar with ERP type inventory and planning systems (such as visual).
