Job Description
Our client designs and manufactures turnkey electrical control systems and machinery for all types of applications within the industrial and commercial sectors globally. They are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Shop Lead in the GTA that can bring in value and be a part of their diverse growing team.
Location: Richmond Hill, ON
Dayshift
Payrange: 60k up to 95k to start
Permanent after 3 months of probation
Job Summary
- Assemble control panels by laying out components, mounting, and wiring them according to the electrical schematics
- Cutting out enclosure plug locations and wiring them
- Prepare operator consoles by knocking out pilot device holes, mounting pilot devices and wiring them. Installing din rail, terminals and other components necessary
- Prepare junction boxes by installing din rail, terminals & pilot devices if necessary
- Position, install and wire junction boxes, operator consoles & enclosures
- Wire & install switches, motors, servos and other electrical sensors or components mounted on the equipment.
- Prepare, install and wire all conduits connecting all sections of the equipment together
- Start-up Troubleshooting and basic electrical service calls
- System commissioning and de-commissioning assistance at customer site
- Co-responsible responsible for the technical aspects of projects and project management responsibilities as required
- Troubleshooting electrical systems
- Supervise and provide directions to junior staff members

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recognize and diagnose faults on electrical equipment or systems, which may involve complex interlocking, interrelated circuits, integrated systems and complex sequencing
- Read/write electrical and electronic schematics/diagrams, basic hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
- Prepare functional descriptions of process controls and sequence of operations
- Integration of specialized hardware and software into manufacturing systems to enhance automation and control with an emphasis on efficiency
- Commission and troubleshoot automation applications
- Assist customers and co-workers with electrical issues; aid with specifications for purchase of electrical components
- Provide electrical machine commissioning and/or technical support both on and off-site
- Field installation work requires travel to customer's facilities
Requirements
Requirements:
- Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical schematics
- Hands-on experience applying electronics
- The ability to work well with minimal supervision and take initiative
- Perform basic wiring work and general installations, Identify causes of problems while developing methods of correction
- Knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot machine safety circuits and applications
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Work overtime and weekends as required
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication, problem solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Hold a valid Canadian driver's license with a good driving record
- Independent on-site commissioning and startup experience
- Exposure to various automation processes (automotive, food and beverage, agricultural, mining, pharmaceutical, etc.)
