The Sr. PLC Programmer role will be involved in designing and documenting automated controlled systems, building machine concepts, integrating electrical & mechanical system software’s, as well as developing processes for installations to follow specifications and strict timelines. You will be analyzing various schematics, programs and conducting functional tests to verify system performance and troubleshoot any issues. Our manufacturing process is aimed towards improving quality, delivery, productivity, and most importantly safety.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have automotive industry experience
  • A Diploma or Degree in El. Engineering / Related Field or strong technical background
  • Minimum of 5+ Years of Experience. Preferably in Automation Manufacturing Environment / Robotics
  • Experience with PLC and Robotic programming with Allen Bradley/Rockwell software- RS Logix 5000/Studio 5000 of assembly welding lines
  • Extensive knowledge in HMI programming – Factory Talk View Studio
  • Advanced Ethernet and Dnet and other communication protocols
  • Knowledge of resistance welding, electrical standards, and latest safety standards
  • Working Knowledge of MS Office & Windows 10
  • Able to design and program welding lines from the start of the project to completion
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and operations preferred
  • Able to lead and work independently as well as within a group
  • Basic knowledge of operating Fanuc robots is a plus
  • Attention to detail; tight deadlines, ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Adept to change and constant improvement
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and program functioning PLC and HMI for controlling assembly lines and stand-alone machinery (i.e., nutwelders) using Allen Bradley/Rockwell software- RS Logix 5000/Studio 5000 and Factory Talk View Studio
  • Debug control systems and equipment. Evaluate all processes are working accordingly and perform I/O checks. Install & commission control systems locally in the shop or at customer sites when needed
  • Develop designs, documentation, and programs according to the scheduled timeline
  • Ensure control engineering design will follow the customer specification
  • Mentor programmers of varying experience in automation integration
  • Technically Lead / Supervise a team of up to 4 technicians if needed
  • Analyze any inefficiencies during the processes including the build and follow up with adjustments for improvements
  • Test interfaces between all equipment, initialize communications between devices, perform I/O checks and follow unit tests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as per customer requirements. Perform field service work as required on customer sites when needed
  • Collaborate with various customers, designers, team leads, project managers, toolmakers & electricians to identify any problems to produce our customers with a completed functioning automation system
  • Participate in regular project meetings to report progress and track engineering changes as well as identify any action items needed to maintain the project on time
  • Develop and follow-up Control open issues list
  • Utilizes various schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and other resources
  • Identify potential improvements and provide solutions; ensure quality control
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
