Our client is the leading partner brewer based in Toronto (East York)


Position Summary


Provides the direction and management that builds and sustains a world-class, safety-driven, quality-focused, high-performing, and diverse maintenance team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Successfully builds rapport, respect, and camaraderie through exceptional coaching, teambuilding, and training.
  • Trains and mentors Maintenance department team.
  • Champion and enforce Health & Safety culture in the plant.
  • Assists, develops, and implements training programs for the entire maintenance staff.
  • Directs the hiring process, establishing a highly motivated, flexible, quick-responding, and quality work force.
  • Establishes key performance indicators and associated feedback processes to assess the Maintenance departments' performance against standards and objectives.
  • Leads meetings to ensure effective communication throughout the department and company.
  • Establishes pre-set inspection, service checklists, work orders and repair schedules
  • Manages preventative and predictive repair programs driven from manufacturer's specifications
  • Ensures all equipment is running safely at high efficiency and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Ensures that repairs are carried out in a cost efficient and timely manner, maximizing production capabilities, and meeting all health and safety requirements
  • Utilize defined best practices to drive and support operational excellence in areas such as: predictive/preventive maintenance, mentoring and technical support for maintenance of processes/equipment
  • Help develop plant maintenance and reliability plans, including expected deliverables and KPI's
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date service records and technical logs for each major piece of equipment
  • Creates and maintains contracts for all equipment and machine repairs not performed in house
  • Where required, provides floor level support to detect, evaluate, and/or resolve any malfunction or issues with production equipment
  • Reviews and compiles the annual Maintenance department budget
  • Works with Quality Department on audit and improvement programs

Prior Experience and Education 

  • Superior leadership skills. Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable addressing diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to assess priorities effectively.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple processes at one time.
  • Proven decision-making ability using various analytical tools, such as variance reports and down time analysis.
  • The ability and aptitude to work with and troubleshoot packaging equipment.
  • Self-motivated with good time management skills.
  • Minimum 10 years of Management experience required.
  • Must have food industry experience
  • College, University or Technical degree, preferably in manufacturing or food production
  • Extensive knowledge in GMPs, HACCP and health and safety standards is preferred
  • Cultural sensitivity and an ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce in multicultural settings
  • Good written and verbal English
  • Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Orchestrated Beer, ERP system
  • Flexibility to adapt to a 24 hr/ 7-day operation schedule
