Job Description

Our client is a distributor of ceramic an stones and they are a supplier of some of the largest distributors throughout the U.S and Canada.  

They are looking to hire for a Forklift Mechanic.

Location: Vaughan, ON
Type: Full Time, Permanent
Pay Rate: $27 -$30 per hour
Benefits: Yes
Shift: Days 7am-3pm Monday to Friday

 

About the Role:

This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing Forklifts and other material handling equipment, in addition to performing other maintenance duties as required.    

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the facility's material handling equipment and all other equipment within the facility
  • Perform minor and major repairs and scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on Forklifts/Lift Trucks (including electric and propane powered units)
  • Inspecting and testing mechanical parts, motors, engines on forklifts  
  • Adjusting, troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures
  • Assembling hydraulic components
  • Maintaining records of scheduled maintenance procedures
  • Operating computers which control and monitor mechanical equipment
  • Responding to emergency maintenance requests as required
  • Performing general maintenance of the industrial lift equipment and building maintenance duties including monthly fire pump tests, and occasional HVAC and electrical tasks at our Distribution Centre
  • Timely and through completion of equipment preventive maintenance (PM) will be a daily requirement and will include but are not limited to repair of forklifts, associated material handling equipment as well as general maintenance of the DC
  • Promptly identify and troubleshoot equipment and facility problems to eliminate root cause(s)
  • Detect/identify safety hazards and plan/organize smart solutions
  • Perform services ranging from basic to advanced repairs and overhauls on vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to learn and use a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) in SAP
  • Track parts usage and maintain stock of spare parts
  • Perform equipment diagnostics/repairs of motor control systems, forklifts, scanners, and various building systems as necessary
  • Safety awareness is key and must adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • Providing a high level of customer service and communication with speed, accuracy, and integrity
  • Participating in and ensuring a safe and organized work environment
  • Ensuring all site maintenance calls are left in a clean and safe manner
Requirements

 

What You Bring:

  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role from within a warehouse environment with direct experience performing various maintenance tasks on forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Technical certification(s)/licence required (maintenance mechanic/forklift mechanic)  
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with proven skills through formal and informal training, as well as experience required  
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic skills, and demonstrated success working with hand and power tools
  • Flexibility to work on various shifts and weekends on occasion is required in order to meet business needs  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Outlook required, experience with preventative maintenance systems is an asset
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and strong customer service skills   
  • Ability to work independently, lead or work as part of a team
  • Should be comfortable lifting up to 50lbs throughout shift  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel between distribution centers on occasion
  • Must have a valid forklift operator's license
