Job Description

Type: Full Time – Permanent

Location: Milton, ON

Pay rate:$28.60 - $37.00 an hour 

Shift: Currently rotation Days, Afternoons and Nights- rotates every 2 weeks – It may change to 2 shifts (Days & Afternoons or even straight day-shift

Shift Premium: Additional on top of regular pay rate -   $0.50 per hour for Afternoons and $0.75 per hour for Nights

 

Job Summary:

The skilled Millwright must be able to conduct all troubleshooting automated production lines and process equipment. The Millwright must be responsible in performing safe efficient repairs to mechanical manufacturing and process equipment, which includes performing routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance for the entire manufacturing facility.

 

 

  • Mechanical troubleshooting with / without manuals and correcting production issues.
  • Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Adjusting machinery and repairing or replacing defective parts.
  • Align and calibrate machinery and equipment parts as required for efficient and safe operation.
  • Maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures.
  • Ensuring operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications and installation.
  • Ensure lines are set at normal operating conditions for proper start-up and shut down processes to be executed.
  • Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
  • Ability to navigate and comprehend touch screens.
  • Maintain equipment and utilize the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Must be able to complete assigned PM's, work orders and other duties as assigned within a timely manner with limited supervision.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of all pipes and pumps.
  • Work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties.
  • Ensure department has proper maintenance equipment and supplies to perform tasks properly.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical manufacturing components and abilities to troubleshoot any equipment faults.
  • Must possess skills in routine welding and fabricating repairs.
  • Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances.
  • Must be proficient in requisitioning / maintaining parts inventories to ensure an uninterrupted flow of parts through the department.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Keep manager informed of any changes in operating procedures, any unusual circumstances and any actions planned to resolve problems
Requirements

 

  • Excellent knowledge of equipment and processes within scope of job. Certified in use of all required equipment.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and trouble techniques of equipment problems.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • General knowledge of blueprint reading and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with PLC’s an asset
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, detailed repair drawings, and recommended spares related to construction equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to read and write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to trouble shoot hydraulics, pneumatic and electrical issues.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet including Scissor lifts and ladders.
  • Working knowledge of lathe, milling machine, grinder and hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of MIG/TIG welding.
  • Should be able to accommodate rotating shifts and weekend schedules (especially during peak seasons)
  • Should be able to cope with changes in schedule
  • Part of the job will also require some repairs to be done on the facility interiors and other areas apart from equipment
  • Ontario licensed Millwright (433A) with 5 years’ experience in manufacturing industry.
  • Exposure to packaging industry is preferable.
  • Communicate in English (both verbal and written)
