Job Description
  • The FPGA Designer 's responsibilities include designing and verification of Complex Component digital systems (FPGA's) in a team setting.   Systems typically require the analysis, design and development of real-time control algorithms, sensor interfaces, serial and other communications interfaces.   This position reports to Hardware Engineering Manager.
  • Take ownership of the Physical Verification and design activities for CEH/FPGA testing to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with DO-254 requirements
  • Conduct Verification and Validation and design activities on CEH/FPGA components to meet DO-254 DALA certification requirements
  • Develop/Refine firmware code and test scripts using Matlab and Modelsim and support the physical verification testing on CEH/FPGA 's
  • Run test scripts on the VHDL test bench and Matlab
  • Review and analyze results generated by Logic Analyzers
  • Update and document test procedures to meet DO-254 requirements
  • Update Hardware documentation in support of Audits
  • Work in conjunction with Quality, Planning and Programs/Project Management personnel to ensure V&V activities are conducted in a timely manner
  • Work cross-functionally with development process, to ensure activities and documentation of results are performed with a focus on meeting DO-254 DALA requirements
  • Attend development design reviews that focus on generating and delivering a certification artifacts
  • The FPGA Designer requires advanced formal engineering education, superior problem solving skills and independent decision-making ability
  • Minimum 3 years of analog and digital experience in circuit design and analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of training experience
  • Advanced level FPGA design and verification experience (5+ years) (Microsemi Igloo2 experience an asset)
  • Experience in Motor Control Systems (Field oriented Control) considered an asset
  • Good working knowledge of Airborne DO-254 design assurance process
  • Experience in digital logic design (VHDL and/or Verilog)
  • Experience in writing test procedures in VHDL from requirements
  • Experience using TCL scripting languages
  • Experience in using Matlab and Simulink
  • Proficient using verification tool (Modelsim SE)
  • Experience in the use of traceability CM tool (IBM DOORS)
