Our client in Oakville is looking for a qualified Tool Room Machinist. As a Tool Room Machinist, you will be working for the weekend day shift, your responsibilities will be to support all Machine shop, Surface Finish and Maintenance activities; you will be require to setup and operate a variety of tool room equipment to produce precision parts, fabricate and modify tools to make or repair machine tools, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.




  • Undertake a variety of jobs, in some cases with limited instruction or information from the customer.
  • Position and fasten work pieces.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machine.
  • Work from sketches, verbal, and print information in order to produce projects according to specifications.
  • Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
  • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as CNC Mills/Lathes, Manual Mills/Lathes, Drill Press, Jig Bore, Sanders, Grinders, and other support equipment.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to insure parts are being made according to specifications.
  • Operate crane in order to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or mill.
  • Actively participate in the 5S program.
  • Assist with keeping the department and machinery clean
  • Other duties as assigned.





  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience.
  • Working knowledge of welding with Stick /Tig and Acetylene Torches.
  • Possess a good knowledge of tooling speeds and feed rates.
  • Anode design for Cad, S-Nickel, Chrome
  • Lead burning, forming   and fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of electro plating processes and circuits
  • Previous experience establishing and using a tool management and maintenance system.
  • Basic knowledge of electro plating
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize measuring equipment in support of quality requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
  • Ability to hold tight machining tolerances.
  • Understand various tooling technology.
  • Troubleshooting – Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
