Job Description

Our client located in Markham, Ontario is currently seeking an Estimator.

Theyare a small company that has a very large presence within the automotive community, we are a Tier 1 supplier to Ford, GM, FCA and others specializing in supplying material handling solutions across North America and Mexico.

Salary will be based on experience in the industry.

Hours are 40 / week with OT after 44

Incentives:

Medical after 3 months

2 weeks’ Vacation to start

Paid semimonthly with no holdback

Increases or bonuses are subject to performance

SUMMARY OF MAJOR DUTIES:

Responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing estimates and proposals

Carry out these duties under the direction of the VP of Operations & Operations Manager

Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals.

Work with the engineering group to prepare proposal drawings if required.

Must adhere to documented ISO quality system requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering

One (1) year experience in automation field preferred.

Proficient in Excel and Word.

Proficient in AutoCAD an asset.

Proficient in SolidWorks an asset.

Excellent communication skills (must be able to read, write and speak English fluently)

Requirements

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Estimating
Develop and maintain cost estimating programs, files and templates in Excel
Preparation of detailed cost estimates
Contact and correspondence with suppliers regarding elements required to complete cost estimate
Validation of estimates through comparison to similar projects and actual as-build data provided by project managers
Cost estimating of new products for cost comparison against existing designs
Administration
Registration of new projects
Maintenance and filing of project files
Timely filling out of information on network inquiry log
Drawings (Work with the Engineering Group)
Preparation of proposal drawings to accompany proposal
Preparation of initial concept drawings
Preparation of presentation drawings
Preparation of concept and detail drawings for new product development
Sales Support
Participation in meetings with sales and marketing related to new projects
Design Support
Attend and contribute to project kick off meetings
Attend and contribute to critical design review
Opportunity
This is an excellent position for an engineer or engineering technician/technologist to acquire experience in product design and cost, custom application, and to gain exposure to work directly with key customers and suppliers. This position may lead to an opportunity to work in the Project Management or Engineering group on an as needed basis.
