About the role:

This Process Control Programmer role reports to Manager - Process Automation.

Your day-to-day:

  • Implement manufacturing process improvements through software changes in a VB.Net and MSSQL environment.
  • Analyze process improvement requests and design, develop, test, verify and document software changes for the production environment.
  • Learn and understand the blast furnace and coke oven processes and apply appropriate software enhancements to improve operating efficiencies.
  • Work with personnel from various disciplines in a manufacturing environment toward continual improvement in product quality and production capabilities.
  • Maintain process control system computers, servers, and relational databases.
  • Support critical production applications in a timely fashion to avoid production delays.
  • Off-hours, on-call response to high priority issues is required.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar program.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience programming with a high-level language. Must be familiar with object-oriented programming and have demonstrated experience with VB.NET.
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft SQL Server and database administration skills.
  • Experience in the configuration of Microsoft Windows family of operating systems.
  • Experience with active directory, DNS, DHCP, and the ability to troubleshoot basic networking problems would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC’s, AVEVA (Wonderware) InTouch HMI and ActiveFactory, and OSIsoft PI software are an asset.
  • A positive attitude with an interest in expanding responsibilities.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
