Job Description

Our client located in Woodbridge, Ontario is currently seeking a Technical writer. 
This position is a 6 month term. Payrate is $50.00 to $65.00 per hour depending on experience. 
Dayshift 7 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday. 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learn complex concepts and combine text with supporting visual elements to present content in a clear, concise and organized manner.
Create clear, professional illustrations that support written information that follows the company’s standards
Maintain clarity, conciseness, consistent style, and consistent terminology in documents.
Interview subject matter experts to facilitate the preparation, and creation of technical documentation
Prepare customer documentation shipments, including printed and electronic copies as required.
Organize and index third-party manufacturer documentation.
Archive completed projects.
Support the training department and complete other duties as assigned.
Photograph systems and components for record-keeping and documentation purposes.
Routinely track and record status for project technical documentation.
Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.
Adhere to all aspects of the department procedures.
Strictly follow CSA N285/NQA
Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures
Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the company's Code of Business Conduct and ISO processes.
Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
Ensure that accurate records are kept of all documentation sent to the customer.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Perform other technical documentation duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:  
Required Education and Experience:
A university degree or college diploma (preferably in science/engineering) with demonstrated writing and technical abilities, or equivalent education and related work experience.
A minimum of two years of experience in technical writing or technical support in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Must Have:
Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), and an aptitude for explaining technical information.
Ability to rapidly learn new software applications and hardware concepts.
A passion for using visual elements to augment technical content.
Superior organization and file management practices.
Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
An aptitude for understanding machinery (mechanical systems, electrical, pneumatic systems, and PLCs).
A passion for learning and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word (or equivalent word processing software)
Experience with graphics software (ex. Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, Adobe Photoshop, GIMP)
Nice to have:
Experience with CorelDRAW, and Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Experience with SolidWorks, and AutoCAD. Experience with Adobe FrameMaker.
