Job Description

Our client is in the Automotive Industry and they are currently looking to hire Automation Technicians.

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Follows all safety rules, guidelines and uses appropriate PPE.   Raises potential safety hazards to others as well as the equipment.
  • Maintains excellent 5S conditions.
  • Ensures and verifies that all equipment produces a quality part at the established cycle-time.
  • Informs the Leadership group when any production parts might be defective.
  • Troubleshoots stamping presses and peripheral equipment to make repairs such as replacing of circuit boards, sensors, controllers, servo motors (incl. encoders) as well as, mechanical devices such as jigs, conveyors, cooling systems etc.
  • Performs preventive or corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including pneumatic & hydraulic systems.
  • Maintains repair & service reports (Daily Downtime Reports & Major Downtime Reports) of robotic equipment and automated production systems.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs programmable controllers, robot controllers and material handling equipment.
  • Align, fit, or assemble component parts using hand & power tools.
  • Terminates wire harnesses and other electrical installations.
  • Develops, corrects and verifies robotic path motions to ensure safety, quality and equipment efficiency.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs poke yoke devices like vision systems, part sensors etc.
  • Assists Engineering in the design, configuration or application of robotic systems.
  • Maintains inventory of spare parts.
  • Attends daily Start of Shift and End of Shift meetings for proper handover of shifts.
  • Understands Maintenance KPIs i.e. Mean Time to Failure and Mean Time to Repair.
  • Assists with 8-Step problem solving activities.
  • Informs his/her Leader if equipment is down for more than 20 minutes (Escalation Process)
  • Validates all repairs and Preventive Maintenance activities by performing the 5-Piece Validation check.
  • Participates in PM activities to ensure equipment reliability by performing all PM checks as well as checking other concerns that came up during Production.
  • Conducts routine maintenance on all types of robots including Kawasaki, Motoman etc.  
  • Evaluates current equipment to monitor necessity for upgrades to PLC hardware and robotic controls etc.
  • Maintains and repairs building equipment including air compressor system, water treatment system, lighting etc.
  • Works with contractors as necessary to implement new equipment or modify existing equipment.
  • Supports and develops process improvements and Kaizen activities.  
  • Demonstrates an understanding of FIO’s Environmental Policy and participate in programs that enhance environmental performance.    Identifies and communicates any potential non-conformances.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the EPRP (Emergency Preparedness Response Plan).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

 

  • Automation Technician certification, Manufacturing Technology diploma or programmer certification.
  • 2-3 years hands on work experience a must.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
  • Sound judgment in decision making and establishing priorities.
  • Proactive and oriented to make improvements in systems and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
