Job Description

Our client is a registered corporation that designs and manufactures passive and semi-active dampers, hydro pneumatic and other suspension components.

They are currently looking to hire for  Mechanical Engineer for an immediate opening in the Engineering department.

Location- Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

This is a full-time, permanent position.


Pay Rate-Based on Experience

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Undertake projects applying our existing suspension spring/damper products to new customer applications
  • Undertake projects involving the design, assembly and testing of prototype suspension spring/damping components and systems
  • Manage customer relationships by supporting existing programs and fostering new programs
  • Support production, manufacturing and QA departments by collaborating on technical matters and producing any necessary documentation or document revision




Application Requirements

  • Applicable engineering degree (such as Mechanical, Automotive or Aerospace, Engineering Science) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience and Professional Engineer designation or eligibility
  • Canadian resident with Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident status.

Role-Specific Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Cost-reduction and Failure Analysis (FMEA and Root Cause) as well as creating assembly and test procedures
  • Testing (design of experiments, test methods, test standards, documentation), particularly dealing with dynamic loading, characterization and fatigue testing
  • Competency in mechanical design modeling (part and assembly), engineering calculations and drawings (SolidWorks is preferred)
  • Support manufacturing and production as required, including implementing design changes
  • Hands-on experience in a lab, garage or work shop setting

Engineering Skills

  • Ability to confidently apply core engineering principles, particularly kinematics/dynamics of mechanical systems, mechanics of solids and machine design, fluid and thermo dynamics
  • Good practical knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes (especially with steels)
  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex systems
  • General experience in engineering documentation and working with the scientific method

Soft Skills

  • Motivated and enthusiastic learner with the ability to work independently
  • Team player willing to take on, prioritize and complete multiple projects and one-off tasks in a timely manner
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written
  • Knowledge and experience in managing a project through scheduling, budgeting and assigning resources, purchasing and costing
  • Ability to professionally interact and work with customers and team members

Preferred Competencies

  • Vehicle systems knowledge, specifically suspension performance and vehicle dynamics
  • Product design experience, particularly with shock absorbers and actuators of any type
