Job Description

Title:   Coolant Blending Associate (Compounder)

Type: Full Time – Permanent

Location: Milton, ON

Payrate: $20.00 per hour

Shift: Currently rotation (D/A)- rotates every 2 weeks   

Shift Premium: Additional on top of regular pay rate - $0.50 per hour for Afternoons




·          Ensure that super concentrates are produced according to specifications

·          Produce bulk batches as required under the supervision of the Coolant Blending Supervisor

·          Ensure that proper cleaning of tanks and lines is performed prior to batching and filling of finished materials

·          Ensure the receiving of bulk liquids via rail or truck

·          Report chemical inventories, raw materials and finished goods

·          Ensure that all bulk shipments are completed and accurate

·          Maintain dike in tank farm area

Specific Tasks


·          Ensure that super concentrates are produced according to specifications under the direction of the Coolant Blending Supervisor

·          Ensure all required batches are produced in order to maintain levels on bulk product as required

·          Ensure batches are produced according to batch sheets and retain sample for the Quality Assurance department

·          Ensure that tanks levels are monitored and reviewed prior to the pumping of chemicals into the storage tanks by verifying the “liquid level monitor” that is kept on the tank farm control system.

·          Ensures that all tanks and lines are cleaned before new chemicals are added by flushing lines with water and chemical that will be used

·          Assist Line Operators in compounding room and the identification of proper lines and tanks by labeling batch ok tags on lines and tanks

·          Ensure that all pump and bulk receiving areas are clean and clear by checking on a regular basis for spills and debris

·          Ensure that all tank valves required during the day are open and then closed at the end of the day unless being used and required for changeovers

·          Ensure that all rail cars and tank trucks have been received as per company procedures, log all paperwork and advise Scheduler when required of any discrepancies or low levels

·          Ensure that all bulk shipments are correct and recorded and making sure the product meets all requirements according to the C-TPAT legislation

·          Ensure that the tank farm dike is clean and free of water at all times by pumping out sump pits in compliance with Recochem SOP

·          Other duties assigned by your supervisor

·          Health and Safety - As per company policy





  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a blending/formulation environment
  • Practical working experience with pumps, mixers and auxiliary equipment
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written/verbal
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management of the company
  • Extreme attention to detail regarding Batch/formulation instruction and a high degree of accuracy when weighting and charging materials to batch

·          Experience in chemical blending

·          Knowledge of equipment and product line

·          Good knowledge of mathematical skills

·          Good organizational skills

·          In depth knowledge of safety procedures relating to bulk receiving of tankers and TDG regulations

·          Good knowledge of C-TPAT requirement and best practices

·          Good knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations for the workplace and Emergency Response company procedures

·          Practical knowledge of pumps, mixers and auxiliary equipment

·          Good working knowledge of touch screens and PLC knowledge

·          Basic understanding of MS Outlook and the internet/intranet
