Title:   Maintenance Supervisor

Type: Full Time – Permanent

Salary: Open / DOE

Shift: Days or Afternoon

Reports to: Plant Manager

Responsibilities

·          Overseeing the preventative maintenance and repair of plant Equipment.
·          Ensure uninterrupted day to day operations.
·          Responsible for developing 4 direct reports training and capable front line employees.
·          Applies theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of operations, repair procedures, trouble shooting and preventative maintenance to support facility equipment reliably.
·          Oversees and maintains productions line (filling, coding and conveying).
·          Sets front-line performance standards providing coaching and feedback to build capability and improve performance 

Specific Tasks
·          High level of maintenance is required on equipment and facilities as per ISO procedures and manufacturers requirement to ensure safe and efficient operating conditions.
·          Maintain the inventory of spare parts and supplies to enable completion of normal and emergency repairs to all equipment.
·          Planning, scheduling and organizing the preventative maintenance program for all plant and productions equipment.  
·          Schedule all maintenance to suit the operating conditions, seasonal fluctuations and emergency situations.
·          Actively participate in the design, development, modification and fabrication of equipment as part of continuous improvement, as may be required by operational development, or as requested by the Plant Manager.
·          Ensure that all equipment, guards, installations, etc. conform to safety standards set out by the Ministry of Labour.
·          Make recommendation to the Plant Manager regarding issues of personnel, equipment and procedures with the intent of improving departmental operations, overall profitability, and working conditions.
·          All capital equipment requirements must have Plant Manager approval.
·          Ensure that all Company polices and regulatory requirements are implemented and adhered to on an ongoing basis.
·          All estimated costs and times for major or miscellaneous repair work must have the approval of the Plant Manager.
·          Advise and consult the Production Supervisor and Scheduler on any maintenance issues, whether planned or on an emergency basis.
·          Supervise and train maintenance mechanics and electricians to ensure that maintenance department objectives are met.
·          Monitor employee attendance and performance. Implement corrective action when required with the assistance of Plant Manager and local HR Representative.
·          Conduct the annual review process and make pay rate recommendations with the assistance of the Plant Manager and local HR Representative.
·          Review and approve weekly time cards and ensure that all overtime is pre-approved as well as authorizing all exception to normal work hours, as per company policy.
·          Ensure that all purchase requisitions are approved by the Plant Manager prior to the purchasing of material.
·          Ensure proper housekeeping of maintenance shop, stockroom, storage and work areas.
·          Attend and contribute to all production and safety meetings regularly.
·          Perform regular “weekly” reviews of equipment downtime and develop an action plan to reduce downtime.

Requirements

HAND ON EXPERIENCE WITH HEAVY EQUIPMENT, STRONG SUPERVISORY SKILL
-Diploma in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
-7+Years of manufacturing/maintenance experience required
- Good command of the English language written and verbal
- Strong interpersonal, communication, administrative and leadership skills.
- 5+ years or more experience in a supervisory role with a manufacturing background or related industry.
- Electricians, Mechanics and Millwrights are direct reports and are located in same facility.
- Organization skills training an asset.
 Extensive knowledge of automated machine controls including proficiency in programming of PCL’s.
- Extensive knowledge of machine design and fabrication.
- Ability to interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to trouble shoot, electrical and mechanical issues.
- Ability to plan, develop and execute complex projects.
- Ability to organize coordinate and execute all areas of maintenance including buildings, production and shipping.
- Strong computer skills required in Word and Excel.
- Intermediate experience with a computerized Maintenance Management program such as MP2.
