Job Description

Our client is a manufacturer of plastic products and technology for the automotive and consumer/commercial industries.

They are looking for a plant manager for their busy production floor.

 

Shift: Day shift 7:30am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri

Location: Woodbine/Major Mackenzie in Markham, ON

Pay rate: (DOE) Open pay rate

Permanent position

 

Duties and Responsibilities
Production

·          Ensure production schedule is followed during the shift and that all targets are met, all jobs are running as per quoted manpower and on cycle, and that all deliveries are met.
·          Ensure consistent and efficient production of product; achieve established production targets.
Ensure correct raw materials are used for all the parts.
·          Direct and aid in troubleshooting and problem solving related to production.
·          Coordinate and manage scrap controls, ensure supervisors are ensuring shift scrap reports are filled out accurately by production team members.
·          Coordinates assigned activities at a level to maintain an orderly flow of product throughout the manufacturing process.
·          Analyze production processes to determine where improvements may be made which will contribute to quality and plant profitability.
·          Ensure machine and mold preventative maintenance is done by shift supervisors.
Housekeeping/Health and Safety
·          Maintain and implement lean manufacturing techniques (housekeeping, time savings, cost savings, improved scheduling, etc...)
·          Know, understand and enforce all Novo policies including the Quality System to ensure quality product as well as compliance on a continual basis.
·          Understand, ensure and enforce safety policies and procedures at all times.
·          Ensure all developed procedures, rules and practices are followed by employees.
·          Maintain excellent housekeeping within the work cell and in the plant.
Record keeping
·          Ensure records of materials used and produced during manufacturing process are maintained.
·          Ensure KPI’s (key performance indicators) are tracked and monitor that they are within targets. If they are out of target develop action plans to correct problems. KPI’s include, but not limited to: scrap, downtime, mould change time, employee absenteeism, production schedule, efficiency, etc.
Ensure all quality issues are addressed immediately.
·          Ensure tracking and recording of safety participation including hazard identification, incident and injuring reporting etc. is maintained.
·          Ensure all the process quality inspections are performed.
·          Ensure changes and/or specific problems occurring in the process are recorded in a daily logbook by shift supervisors.
 

Employee Relations/Training

·          Review job performance of each subordinate so that employee training and development may be utilized per company policy.
·          Ensure the parts specific training of the employees is completed and only trained operators are on machines.
Performs other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications

·    Supervisory experience is an asset
·    Proficient computer skills with Microsoft software (including MS Project)
·   Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with all          organization levels
·   Communicates effectively and works well with his/her fellow Team Members.
·   Practices positive reinforcement for all team members, in a manner to further develop each member
·          Excellent planning and organizational skills
·          Leadership skills; capable of handling employee related issues
Competent decision making and analytical skills

 

Education & Experience Requirements

·          College diploma required.
·          Minimum 5 years experience in the automotive industry. Preferably in injection molding.
Knowledge of ISO 9000/ TS16949 is an asset.
