Job Description

Our client located in Etobicoke, Ontario is currently seeking an Accountant.

Core Responsibilities
• Administer, prepare, and distribute the weekly and semi-monthly payrolls in accordance with government legislation and company policies, using the Ceridian HPL Latitude system
• Prepare various payroll related documents including statutory remittances, yearly tax T4 reports, worker’s compensation, ROE, and monthly reconciliations
• Prepare and balance payroll related general ledger accounts
• Maintain the absence and vacation tracking system: Ceridian Dayforce
• Prepare, process, and analyse month-end journal entries
• Generate payroll related reports
• Support benefits administration
Accounts Receivable
• Administer the Accounts Receivable sub-ledger accounts
• File invoices, billings, and Accounts Receivable documents
• Answer inquiries with regards to Accounts Receivable accounts
• Monitor aging and overdue Accounts Receivable accounts and contact customers to resolve any issues with balances owed
• Assist in the month end closing process


The successful candidate must be detail-orientated and have exceptional problem solving, analytical, and communication skills. The Accountant must also have excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to complete projects and tasks under strict deadlines. In addition, the candidate must have the following skills and qualifications:
• Diploma or Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
• 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Must have experience with full cycle payroll using an automated payroll/HRIS system
• Knowledge of payroll legislation and accounting practices and principles
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
It would be an asset if the candidate also has the following skills and qualifications:
• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification
• Experience with Ceridian HPL Latitude and Ceridian Dayforce
• Experience with payroll implementation and pension plan administration
